every thing emerges from hands-on exploration, extreme tactility, and our self-built liquid shooting machine, turning rubber (and all those other things) into things that stretch and bounce, embodying the endless flexibility of house of rubber. from latex bodysuits and robotic ball gown rugs to ceramic cabinets and dripping rubber jewelry, we always explore the relationships between body, object, and space. for example: curly girl, an impossible-to-move ceramic woman born out of the supersized clay extruder at ekwc, and lady in rug, a gigantic hand-tufted flying (sort of) carpet, showcase our fascination with material manipulation, absurd forms, and bodily (horror) references.
besides making our own things, we really like to turn other people’s ideas into great things, from set design projects for pommelien thijs to custom creations and commissioned works for bjork, tim walker, and z33, to all other kinds of creative detours. we create things that surprise, delight, and things you won’t forget. so email us if you want to make some ridiculous things together.
