is a 130 kilogram soft robotic sculpture made from twelve square meters of hand tufted wool. blurring the line between body and object, she is a breathing hybrid caught between stillness and motion. her surface invites you to touch, but her quiet breathing might startle you. 



after two years in the making, lady in rug unfolds like a living ornamental pattern with a pleated skirt frozen mid-flow. both seductive and unsettling, she turns domestic softness into something oddly alive: a body pretending to be comfort, material pretending to be flesh. elegant, absurd, and impossible to vacuum.



she’s been hanging around at this art fair, textielmuseum, big art, fashionclash festival & dutch design week and was nominated for the carpet design awards in hannover (yes, she can also be displayed on the wall).



we wanted to create a multi functional object, so we also created a small lady in rug dress from leftover wool which can be worn and fits the skirt portion of the artwork, making it possible to perform as the piece itself.
